Ask Kraal for Reports and Analysis

App path: ChatIQ, Standard Reports, and client pages with Ask Kraal.

Use this scenario when a user needs financial statements, account analysis, or a page-specific explanation.

Goal

The user gets a report or analysis grounded in the selected client/entity and understands whether the answer came from a standard accounting report, a generated component, or a one-off analysis.

Standard report checklist

  1. Open Standard Reports.
  2. Select the client and entity.
  3. Pick the report from the catalog drawer on the left — it lists every report, grouped (Financial statements, Ledgers & registers, Receivables & payables, Tax & compliance, Management), with search and your recent reports on top. Common picks:
    • Profit and Loss;
    • Balance Sheet;
    • Trial Balance;
    • Cash Flow;
    • AR/AP Aging;
    • Financial Package.
  4. Confirm the period.
  5. Run the report.
  6. Check the integrity dock under the report — cross-check results, the provisional/locked state, and the package status stay visible there while you read the report. Press E to expand the report full screen; Esc returns.
  7. Use export or package generation when the report is ready for client delivery.

Financial package delivery checklist

  1. Open Report packs (from ChatIQ or the client's close workspace).
  2. Pick a saved template from the recent list, or start from a package type.
    • A saved template is a draft layout with no report data. You can preview its structure, but Send, Export, Share, and Lock stay disabled until you generate it.
  3. Set the client, period, and basis, then click Generate. Generating from a selected template populates exactly that layout for the period.
  4. Review every section — sections that returned no data are called out after generation.
  5. Deliver:
    • Send to client emails the package (PDF and Excel artifacts render server-side; delivery is scheduled if they are still rendering);
    • Share creates a share link and copies it to your clipboard — links expire after 30 days by default (90 days maximum) and can be revoked at any time;
    • Lock freezes the package and renders the final artifacts.
  6. To change a delivered package, use Regenerate: it creates a new version, supersedes the old one, and cancels any still-pending scheduled send of the superseded version so a client never receives outdated numbers.

ChatIQ checklist

  1. Open ChatIQ.
  2. Confirm the client and entity in the context picker.
  3. Ask for the report or analysis.
  4. Prefer specific prompts:
    • "Show May 2026 Trial Balance for TestCompany6."
    • "Build a month-by-month P&L for January to March 2026 and show zeros for months with no rows."
    • "Summarize AR aging as of today and show customer buckets."
  5. Review the generated artifact, not only the narrative answer.
  6. If a one-off analysis is generated, tie it back to the underlying report before sharing outside the firm.

Explain page checklist

  1. Open a working page such as Work List, Transaction Processor, Close, Reports, or Integrations.
  2. Click Explain page (top right). The Kraal panel opens on its Ask tab with an explanation of what's on the page.
  3. Read the summary, then ask follow-up questions in the same panel without leaving the page.
  4. Use the panel's Review tab for anything waiting on your judgment, and its Activity tab to see what Kraal already did for this client.

What good looks like

  • The selected client and entity are valid together.
  • Standard reports and ChatIQ agree on the same scope and period.
  • Artifacts show data in a usable table or financial statement component.
  • Empty months are shown as zeros only when the source report returned no rows for that month.
  • If the source cannot be reached, Kraal says no report rows were available instead of inventing numbers.
  • Nothing is sent, shared, or locked from a template draft — only generated packages reach clients.
  • Share links carry an expiry, and revoked links stop working immediately.
