Daily Rhythm for a CPA Firm
App path: Daily Board
Use this scenario each morning when a CPA firm operator wants to know what changed, what needs judgment, and what can safely move without hunting through every client.
Goal
Start from one operating surface, clear the highest-value work, and leave the day with fewer client blockers, fewer review items, and a visible audit trail.
Morning checklist
The board is built to answer three questions in order: what did Kraal finish, is my portfolio okay, and what needs me.
- Open Daily Board.
- Read the client outcome strip at the top. Each active client shows one line: how far the books are current, whether the close is on track, how many items need a person, and any amount at risk. This is the portfolio health check in one glance; click a client's row to open their hub.
- Read What Kraal did without you: the count of items Kraal handled on its own since midnight, with a link to the audit trail when you need partner-shareable detail.
- Work Awaiting your judgment directly on the board. It is one flat list of every decision waiting on a person, across all surfaces, de-duplicated. Approve or reject each item inline; open the owning page only when you want the full detail behind an item.
- Check Open exception watch for anything Kraal flagged as unusual or deliberately held back.
- Expand Close in Flight if a month-end close is active.
- If a number looks off or old, open the Data status drawer for freshness detail. It is collapsed by default because it is diagnostics, not work.
- Use the Kraal button (top right) to open the agent panel: Today is Kraal's daily briefing with today's agenda, Ask answers questions about what you're looking at, Review holds everything waiting on your judgment, and Activity is the receipts ledger.
Processing checklist
- Start with the judgment list on the board; most days it is short and finishing it is the whole morning.
- Open Work List when you want the full grouped inventory behind the board: prepared entries, client follow-ups, and setup or source blockers.
- Use Run Kraal Sweep when the page says the selected work is safe for Kraal to run. The sweep reads back what happened: completed, skipped, held for you, and rejected.
- Review approvals before posting or sending anything client-facing. Money movement, period locks, and client-facing sends always wait for a person.
- Open client-specific pages only when Daily Board or Work List points you there.
- Use Audit Center or the Activity Log when you need proof of what happened.
End-of-day checklist
- Return to Daily Board.
- Confirm no urgent decisions or blocked source items were missed.
- Check whether close moved forward for active clients.
- Open client requests that are still waiting.
- Leave notes or assignments for anything a human must decide tomorrow.
What good looks like
- The morning takes minutes: read the outcome strip, clear a short judgment list, done.
- Every item in the judgment list genuinely needs a person; the routine cleared on its own.
- "What Kraal did without you" has real receipts behind it in the audit trail.
- Daily Board and Work List counts agree for the same scope.
- Client requests are tied to the work they unblock.
- You do not need to open every client just to know what matters.
