ChatIQ workspace
ChatIQ is the conversational workspace for asking Kraal about a client, shaping a request, reviewing results, and opening the right accounting surface. ChatIQ and the Command Center are separate surfaces: ChatIQ is the conversational assistant, opened from the app's navigation drawer or the ChatIQ shortcut in any workspace footer, while the Command Center is the AI task console where task runs, approvals, and artifacts live — it appears as Current Work in the accounting workspace sidebar and as Command Center in the workspace footer utilities.
For client-wide history across approvals, task outcomes, execution results, and connected accounting activity, use the Audit Center. For guidance on choosing between the Activity Log, task detail, client audit, and firm-wide audit views, see Audit Trail & Activity Log.
Accessing ChatIQ
Open ChatIQ from the app sidebar. You can also open Ask Kraal or ChatIQ-style panels from supported workspaces when you want to ask a question without losing your current page.
Client context
ChatIQ works best when the correct client and entity are selected. The client context panel lets you:
- choose the client
- choose the entity when the client has multiple entities
- use quick picks such as Trial Balance, Profit & Loss, Cash forecast (the next 13 weeks), Cash flow, AR/AP, Low Stock, Close Status, or Client Analysis
- set dates and a focus area for structured requests, including Cash forecast (13-week, always from today), Cash flow statement (date range optional), and Budget vs actual (an optional as-of date picks the fiscal year)
The selected scope controls which books, reports, and workspaces Kraal uses. If the answer depends on entity scope, review the displayed scope before relying on the result.
Conversations
The conversations drawer lets you search and resume previous conversations. Opening a conversation restores the relevant context and messages that your permissions allow you to view.
Use conversations for:
- client questions you want to continue later
- report explanations and follow-up analysis
- troubleshooting a specific accounting workflow
- collecting a clean thread for a teammate to review
Conversation access follows your Kraal permissions. A shared browser URL does not grant extra client access.
Open in workspace
ChatIQ can route you to the right workspace when the work should happen outside chat. Common links include:
- Process documents — open the Transaction Processor for uploads and extraction review
- Bank reconciliation — open reconciliation with the current client context
- Monthly close — open close management for the selected client
- Report packs — open financial package work for review and client delivery
Workspace links preserve useful client context where the app supports it.
Results and artifacts
When Kraal generates a report or analysis, ChatIQ may show:
- a narrative answer
- tabular results
- provenance or source notes
- PDF or CSV artifacts
- links to open related reports, tasks, or workspace pages
Review artifacts before sending client-facing material. If Kraal marks content as provisional, regenerate or verify it from live books before client delivery.
Task and audit handoff
ChatIQ is useful for asking and shaping work, but it is not the only review surface:
- Use the Command Center and its Task Detail view when you need one task's full context, approvals, and output history.
- Use the Activity Log when you are following a live automation run.
- Use the Audit Center when you need the broader client timeline.
- Use Work List when you need the full backlog of prioritized work.
QuickBooks-connected clients
For QuickBooks-connected clients, ChatIQ can help you understand whether parallel operation is healthy enough to continue. Ask about readiness, open repairs, stale failures, or recent mirrored activity while you are working in client context.
If QuickBooks health looks weak, move into the QuickBooks integration detail to reconnect, review the repair queue, or resolve surfaced blockers. See QuickBooks Parallel Work.
Safe use
ChatIQ can draft, explain, and route work — including staging a journal entry or another accounting document as an approvable draft — but accounting changes still follow Kraal's review and approval rules. A staged draft writes nothing to the books; it posts only after a person explicitly approves it. Treat generated answers as work product to review, especially before posting entries, sending client-facing packages, or relying on unusual source data.
Do not paste secrets, credentials, or private connection details into chat. If support needs to investigate, share a non-sensitive screenshot, timestamp, client name, or task reference instead.
