Certified and derived charts

A chart in Kraal tells you whether the numbers are the report's own cells, or arithmetic the chart computed from those cells.

Certified

A chart marked Certified copies the cells a report already returned. It does not add them up, subtract them, or invent a point. Under the chart, the line is:

Figures computed by the accounting engine, not by the assistant.

Use a certified chart when you need the same figures the report shows.

Derived

A chart marked Derived computed at least one point from those cells. A total across parties, a quarter total, or a change is that kind of point. The chart says so. Its usual line is:

Derived live from the books, not certified. Source figures from the accounting engine.

Read the note on the chart for how that particular figure was built. A derived chart is useful, and it is not a substitute for the certified cells.

No badge

Some charts have no Certified or Derived mark. If the line under the chart says the figures were transcribed by the assistant, verify them before you use them.
